This week's episode makes me laugh so hard every time I hear it; it truly brings me so much joy.
It wasn't long ago that Chris and I were in the planning stages of our podcast, dawdling around like bumblefuck dumb and dumber. But some of the recordings are pure gold. The reason I like them so much is that they really show off our personal dynamic and how much we enjoy working together, our chemistry, and how we make each other laugh.
It truly is magical when you partner with someone who you just fit with like that. You know?
My Fancy Office was one of the first topic ideas we came up with. At the time, I had the bah-rilliant idea of putting out a poll to our writer friends on Twitter asking what everyone's writing setup was like. We received quite a good response, and the majority of answers surprised us. We do stay on topic more than usual as we were trying hard, but we are complete messy messes in the episode right from the first second. I decided to leave it all in because it's so unfocused. And there is no shame in showing what beginning a podcast is like. We were just learning. How is that not interesting?
Since recording My Fancy Office, our show has significantly evolved and we continue to brew ideas for further growth. We are still learning. But we have been finding our voices and the show has been settling into a style that fits our personalities. And we're so proud of that.
But what makes our show so special is what My Fancy Office highlights: our friendship.
I wasn't looking to make a best friend, but life has a funny way of bringing people into your life when you need them most. I needed him, and there he was—my new best friend. This episode shows off the joy our friendship brings to one another.
Our special friend of the podcast Jenny Lane pointed out that we are rough with one another on the show. Indeed, we swear at each other often (out of fun), but once she pointed that out, I haven't been able to get that out of my head.
So I just want to say thank you to Christopher Robin. Thank you for your friendship and all you do. You mean the world to me and working on our podcast together is a spotlight of my life.
Writing from my office (AKA "the bed") and XO—
Kristi
